Why go private

A private tour of Jordan, planned around you

Jordan’s highlights are spread along one long road from north to south. Petra is about three hours from Amman, Wadi Rum about four and the Dead Sea about one. With a private driver, those drives become part of the trip: you leave when you are ready, stop at viewpoints along the way and spend as long as you like at each site.

Every tour is just for your group, whether you are a couple on a day trip from Amman, a family on a week-long trip or friends heading from Petra to Wadi Rum.

  • Your timing

Start early to beat the heat and the crowds, or enjoy a slow breakfast first.

  • Your stops

Add a viewpoint, a coffee break or one more site along the way.

  • Your vehicle

A sedan, van or minibus sized for your group and your luggage.

Before you go

Good to know before your Jordan trip

A few practical points that make a private tour of Jordan easier.

  • The Jordan Pass

One pass covers entry to more than 40 sites, including Petra, Jerash and Wadi Rum. For many nationalities, it also covers the tourist visa fee if you buy it before you arrive and stay at least two nights. Check the current rules on the official Jordan Pass website.

  • Give Petra time

The Siq, the narrow gorge that leads to the Treasury, is about 1.2 km long, and the climb to the Monastery is around 800 steps. Wear sturdy shoes, start early and carry water.

  • Petra by Night

The candlelit walk through the Siq to the Treasury currently runs from Sunday to Thursday, starting at 8:30 pm. You need a daytime Petra ticket or a Jordan Pass, and the schedule can change, so we check it for your dates.

  • Wadi Rum by 4×4

Private cars stop at the edge of the protected area. The desert itself is explored by 4×4 or camel with local Bedouin guides, and desert nights can be cold in winter.

  • What to wear

Light clothes that cover your shoulders and knees, comfortable walking shoes, a hat and sunscreen. Bring a warm layer for desert evenings and winter days.

  • Money in Jordan

Jordan uses the Jordanian dinar (JOD). Cards are accepted in most hotels and many restaurants, but carry some cash for small shops, snacks and tips. For your tour, multiple payment methods are available.

Can I visit Petra on a day trip from Amman?

Is the driver also a tour guide?

Your driver looks after the road, the parking and the timings. At sites such as Petra, Jerash and the Baptism Site, you can explore on your own or with a licensed local guide, which we can add to your quote.

Can we change the plan on the day?

Small changes, like an extra viewpoint or more time at a site, are usually easy on a private tour. For bigger changes, ask your driver or message us, as they can affect the timings and the price.
